1Acceptance of Terms
The Breast Cancer Portal of Bangladesh (BCPBD) is hosted by the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEB), University of Dhaka. By creating an account (via email/password or Google Sign-In) or querying publicly listed cohorts, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
2User Accounts and Authentication
Certain features (such as dataset uploads, custom group creation, and universal presets) require an authenticated user account:
- You agree to provide accurate and truthful information when registering, whether via direct credential entry or through Google Single Sign-On (OAuth).
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and all activities occurring under your account.
- Accounts are non-transferable. BCPBD administrators reserve the right to suspend or revoke access in instances of unauthorized data scraping or security violations.
3Ethical Research and Dataset Submissions
Researchers uploading datasets, cohort variables, or genomic metadata agree to adhere to international human research ethics:
- Strict De-identification: No personally identifiable health data (including patient names, national IDs, contact numbers, or exact addresses) may be uploaded.
- Ethical Clearance: You certify that all clinical data originated under authorized Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) approvals with participant informed consent.
- No Re-identification Attempts: Users are strictly prohibited from attempting to re-identify any de-identified patient data found in the portal.
4Clinical and Medical Disclaimer
Important Medical Notice
The BCPBD platform, including its Odds Ratio calculators, Chi-Square statistical tools, TCGA integration, and survival plots, is designed for computational biology, translational research, and educational demonstration.
Nothing on this site should be interpreted as medical advice, formal diagnostic evaluation, or clinical care recommendation. Patients and clinicians must rely on direct consultations with certified oncology professionals.
5Attribution and Scientific Citation
Open science thrives on proper acknowledgment. If you utilize BCPBD datasets, visualization tools, or statistical outputs in academic manuscripts, theses, or presentations, you must cite the portal as follows:
